Understanding and responding to issues of neglect

This course is for anyone working with children and their families and who wants a better understanding of neglect, the impact that it has on children in the short and long term, and how to respond to any concerns that they have.

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Identify the definition, signs & indicators of neglect
  • Identify the possible causes of neglect
  • Recognise the influence of values/beliefs on responding to concerns about neglect
  • Understand the impact of neglect on children of all ages, and what the consequences might be for children’s development and outcomes
  • Understand how to respond within a multi-agency framework
  • Where to access further support, resources and advice
